Grasscrete, the winners of Wakefield First’s 2007 International Business Award, have employed the services of fellow Wakefield company, Wéb-Tränslatiôns, to further explore their international business opportunities.
Well established in this country for over thirty years, Grasscrete have licensees in many territories around the globe, from east to west. But, in order to test the potential of new international markets without making any significant financial commitments, MD Bob Howden decided that the time was right to translate parts of his English website.
With three key pages of Grasscrete’s site now available in ten languages including Arabic, Russian, Romanian and Chinese, the company has ensured foreign visitors to the site will stay longer and are more likely to be interested in the services on offer as a result of the effort that has been made to accommodate them.

The International Blast! service being provided by Wéb-Tränslatiôns (whose MD was a finalist for Wakefield First’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award) allows Grasscrete to monitor the number of visitors, enquiries and orders from each country. As such, the results offer an insight into which countries offer the greatest return on any potential investments. It also goes some way to unravelling the paradox of which comes first, foreign revenues or foreign websites. Owing to the inherently low cost, low hassle and quick turnaround of the service, any financial and temporal implications are minimized.
